In yet another edition of Panda Peeks, we’re reviewing Olé Express that previously was known for a restaurant however it has now become an amazing food delivery service in Karachi.
The reason why we have picked Olé Express is because it has recently gone live on foodpanda and the eatery turned delivery service has come to be known as the place that cooks and delivers the food too. How many such places can you name on your fingertips? None. Let’s dive into the review then and get you excited about ordering our recommendations.
We didn’t take much time in planning our meals because we knew exactly what we wanted. Mind you, this could be different for everybody because the menu is carefully put in place with lots of variety. Unless you’re craving a specific item, take your time on deciding what to eat.
Starters
For our starter, we ordered Feta and Sun-dried Tomato Salad. However, we found our eyes lingering on Chicken Strips and a fancy Prawn Avocado Salad too.
So, like the good Pandas that we are, starters were ordered in abundance. We absolutely ended up ordering the items mentioned above just so our curiosity could be fed.
Anything that has sun-dried tomatoes gets a 10/10 from us. Feta and Sun-dried Tomato Salad is very refreshing for the crisp ice berg lettuce, Feta cheese cubes and flavorful greens such as olives, cucumbers and mint dressing. It has raw chunks of tomatoes too so two types of tomatoes set well on your palate.
Second starter was none other than Chicken Strips. These good ol’ strips are no different than what we usually order from other restaurants. However, for delivery it was much crispier which put us in the mood for having another batch of these when ordering next time. Served with honey mustard sauce, it is a treat.
Our third starter was unusual given the fact that we put it at the end to taste and decide whether we liked it out of hunger or for its flavors. Prawn and Avocado Salad make a great combination and we’re sold on this idea. Plus a Vinaigrette and Ranch dressing makes the dry combination of ingredients, gel in well. There’s ice berg lettuce, black olives, feta cheese and pan grilled prawns. Yum!
Hungry for more food, we ordered lots of things from the Chicken, Burgers/Sandwiches, Steak and Seafood menu. Fasten your seat belts, we’re going to take a swift ride into a whole lot of deliciousness!
Chicken
There’s an extensive menu of chicken items and we picked our two favorites Chicken Fajita and Stuffed Chicken Tarragon. On Olé Express foodpanda menu, you’ll find Chicken on the Grill menu too which contains a number of grilled chicken options. We took advantage of this portion too and ordered Chicken Parmesan.
Chicken breast is grilled and is served with Marinara sauce topped with Parmesan cheese. If you like anything other than Penne pasta served with it, add your preferred item from ‘Side Orders’.
The spicy dish of Mexican flavors, Chicken Fajita is extremely satiating. But since we ordered another chicken dish, we went back and forth from one to other in order and our taste buds sure did party all the while. Chicken Fajita is a dish of flavored chicken strips with tomatoes, green peppers and onions, served with plain boiled rice, sour cream to tone down the spices and a fajita sauce on the side.
On the menu, serving recommendation is for two persons.
Similarly for Chicken Tarragon, the serving portion is for two persons. But if you’re feeling like eating the world, then it shouldn’t be a problem. Chicken Tarragon is a fried and stuffed chicken breast with creamy Tarragon sauce served with plain white rice.
Seafood
When you see a Snapper, you order it for lunch. And so we did!
Spice lovers, this will be extremely difficult for you to ignore because not only the choice of fish here is extraordinary but the Mexican flavors make it further out of this world. Mexican Red Snapper is a dish of red snapper fillet marinated in Mexican spices and yogurt mix, grilled and served with tantalizing Mexican sauce and French fries. You can order plain white rice too which we would definitely vouch for.
Burgers & Sandwiches
This could not have been missed. We simply went for the Steak Sandwich. Getting down with the spicy treats we felt our taste buds need to be given a break and gobbling up on a juicy steak sandwich would be a good idea. It did end up refreshing our palettes with juicy steak strips, usual sandwich ingredients minus the sauce and sun-dried tomato bread. We loved it.
Steak
We are fans of Tarragon sauce to the point where we would eat anything smothered in Tarragon sauce. If you’re the same, then go for Beef Stuffed Steak. The succulent beef steak portion is stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and lots of spinach. Then it is cooked to medium well and topped with Tarragon sauce. You get sautéed veggies on the side too! Beautiful.
Our Verdict
We’ve become a fan of ordering Olé Express via foodpanda for two reasons. The quality of food is highly maintained and it seems that this particular quality will last longer than most of the restaurants who deliver soggy steaks.
Our items throughout remained hot and fresh and it gave out a feeling of being home-cooked which is very appealing for us. Price per item is no different than a dine-in place however we were a little disappointed to know that there’s no Dessert menu. Hope it can be fixed and our customers keep coming back to order delicious food from Olé Express, foodpanda.
